NASA scientists have discovered a star, superior mass of the Sun is 100 times – RIA Novosti

WASHINGTON, March 17 – RIA Novosti Astronomers have discovered nine star-monsters, each weighing more than a hundred times the mass of the Sun, said NASA on Thursday

.. The discovery of nine massive stars in R136 constellation was made on the basis of data obtained by the Hubble Space telescope

“This is an example of the most massive stars known today” -. said in a statement NASA.

Details made a group of scientists from different countries, the opening will be published in the monthly report of the royal astronomical society.

Star Cluster R136 located in the Tarantula Nebula, belonging to the Large Magellanic Cloud galaxy 170 thousand light-years from Earth. R136 Cluster consists of a massive, bright and hot young stars.

Astronomers estimate that nine superstars not only massive than the Sun, but together they are 30 million times brighter than the sun. In addition to the giant stars, the researchers found “dozens of stars that are 50 times the mass of the Sun”.

The study also confirmed that the biggest star in the cluster R136, and are believed to remain blue hypergiants star in the universe R136a1, whose mass is 250 times the mass of the sun.
