SpaceX again failed to land the Falcon 9 step on a floating platform – News ZiV.ru

The next attempt to SpaceX to make a soft landing of the first stage of the rocket on a floating platform in the Atlantic Ocean over again unsuccessfully. Rocket after the launch of SES-9 satellite has made a hard landing on a barge, but Elon Musk said that he hoped for good luck at the next startup.

Start launch vehicle Falcon 9 was launched from the spaceport at Cape Canaveral (Florida) only the fifth attempt and it happened at 02:35 MSK. The launch was canceled twice due to unfavorable weather conditions and the same – for reasons of technical troubles. Falcon 9 successfully launched SES-9 communications satellite into orbit. The first step was 9 minutes after launch to board on a special platform, installed in the Atlantic Ocean.

The founder of SpaceX Elon Musk wrote in his Twitter account that “the rocket landed firmly on the barge.” According to him, this time he did not hope for success, but hopes that the next time everything will be much more successful. The company is not particularly hoping to maintain the first stage before the start, since the launch of the satellite into a high orbit rocket was necessary to have a greater fuel capacity and develop greater when picked up speed.

Until such time as the rocket appeared in the frame, carried live translation of the return of the first stage to the ground, and then broke off.

SpaceX continues to develop technology to save the first stage of the launch vehicle to reduce the cost of space flight, and the ability to use it to re-start. In December 2015 the company made a successful vertical landing of the first stage to the launch site. Three previous landing in the ocean on a floating platform proved to be a failure
