Today, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has instructed the Ministry of Education and Science sign memorandum on cooperation in the fields of science, technology and innovation between the governments of Russia, Brazil, India, China and South Africa.
Memorandum prepared jointly with partners in the BRICS and provides for the further development of cooperation on food security and sustainable agriculture, as well as climate change and minimize the consequences of natural disasters.
Also, the Memorandum provides for cooperation in the areas of BRICS new and renewable sources of energy and its conservation; space exploration, medicine and biotechnology; high-tech zones and technology transfer.
The basis of cooperation will be structured as follows: Meeting of Ministers of Science, Technology and Innovation; meeting of senior officials in the fields of science, technology and innovation; Working Group on Science, Technology and Innovation of the BRICS members.
The draft Memorandum provides for making changes in it that do not have a fundamental nature.
