National oceanic and atmospheric administration published a forecast which shows that the dense flow of the solar wind (up to 50 particles per 1 cubic cm!) will reach Earth on the evening of 13 Oct (Thu). The speed of the coronal mass ejection from the surface of the Sun is very low, of the order of 300 km/h. This means the possible “Northern lights” in the mid-latitudes.
Gismeteo also predicts in Omsk geomagnetic storm, which will begin around 9 PM on Thursday, peak in the early morning Friday, and then the geomagnetic perturbation will last until Saturday evening.
