The signal from the module Schiaparelli broke during the descent of the device on the surface of Mars – TASS

MOSCOW, October 19. /TASS/. Experts from the European space Agency (ESA) has received a radio signal from the lander Schiaparelli mission “ExoMars”, but he was interrupted at the time of descent of the device on the planet.

this was announced by the representative of the Agency in the direct line with Moscow.

“the Radio signal was received, but the transmission ended at the moment of descent of the apparatus. We haven’t been able to say exactly, we need more information”, – said the representative of the Agency. According to him, the telemetry data will be analyzed and processed before 11:00 GMT Thursday, after which it will be clear the machine status.

the Device should develop the technologies for the controlled descent and landing on Mars before the planet will go to the second part of the mission with the Russian landing platform and a European Rover.

it is Assumed that the equipment module will record wind speed, humidity, pressure and temperature at the time of planting. Using these devices will generate data about the electric fields on the surface of the planet, which will help to understand the cause of dust storms.

October 16, the first European-Russian interplanetary station “ExoMars-2016″ on the approach to Mars is divided into the lander Schiaparelli and orbital TGO (Trace Gas Orbiter).

19 Oct TGO completed the manoeuvre by braking for orbital insertion around Mars and began transmitting data to ground stations. As reported in the ESA, the received signal was clear. The unit made a major maneuver to orbit, its engines worked more than two hours. “Telemetry data sent from TGO, saying that the device worked exactly as expected,” – said the Agency.

In this orbit module will stay another year. The signal from the spacecraft TGO take station for deep space network European space Agency system (ESTRACK) to Malargue (Argentina) and NASA (system DSN) to Canberra (Australia) and Madrid (Spain). In Russia the signals of “ExoMars” will take station at Bear lakes (Moscow region) and Kalyazin (Tver oblast).
