Mission “ExoMars-2016″ has reached a new stage – Aviation EXplorer

17 Oct 2016 AEX.RU – October 16, 2016, has successfully passed the Department airborne demonstration module Schiaparelli (“list”) from the orbital module TGO (Trace Gas Orbiter – orbital module) mission “ExoMars-2016″ on the approach to Mars. It is reported by Roscosmos.

“Schiaparelli” will continue to move along a trajectory crossing the orbit of Mars, to landing on the planet, and the Orbiter, TGO October 17, 2016 to perform a maneuver of transition to hyperbolic with respect to Mars’s orbit on 19 October will start the braking maneuver to enter the orbit of Mars.

Landing of the landing module “Schiaparelli” is scheduled on 19 October 2016. “Schiaparelli” will enter the atmosphere at an altitude of about 122,5 km, at a speed of nearly 21,000 km/h at about 17:42 GMT. The parachute is opened at an altitude of 11 km at a speed module 1650 km/h. The separation of the front heat shield has to occur at an altitude of 7 km from the planet’s surface. Brake motors “Schiaparelli” will be activated at a height of 1.1 km, and their task is to help to reduce the speed module 250 km/h to 4 km/h, then the height of 2 m they will be turned off, and the landing module will land already in free fall. The special design of the device should soften the blow when you fall.

“at Approximately 17:48 GMT (19 Oct) module “Schiaparelli” will start signal transmission from the surface. The signal from the lander will receive and record the Martian probe Mars Express (ESA, during landing), Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (NASA, a few minutes after landing) and TGO (during landing). Reception and retransmission of the signal will provide the TGO (prior to the withdrawal of reception areas) and “Mars Express”. The signal from the spacecraft will be taken at the stations of the deep space network European space Agency system (ESTRACK) to Malargue (Argentina) and NASA (system DSN) to Canberra (Australia) and Madrid (Spain). In addition, first planned to use a radio telescope GMRT (Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope) near Pune (national center radioastrophysical, Tata Institute of fundamental research, Bombay, India), which will record the radio signals from the descent module “Schiaparelli” directly during the descent. This technique will be experimental,” – said in Roskosmos.

in Russia, In the framework of creating an integrated ground segment of the project “ExoMars” will signal the orbital module TGO stations in Bear lakes and oceans, which will be judged on the beginning of the braking maneuver and the output unit out of the radio shadow of Mars after the end of the braking.

Also 19 Oct 2016 TGO it is expected to move in highly elliptical orbit of Mars. After the maneuver withdrawal from the trajectory of collision with Mars, which is scheduled for October 17, TGO will include engine stop 134 minutes to reduce speed to a level sufficient to “capture” the orbital module of the gravitational field of Mars. The end of the maneuver TGO falls on a period of “shadowing” (the spacecraft is behind Mars, signals from it on Earth is not accepted). The output TGO of the radio shadow of Mars is expected at about 19:30 GMT. In the end, TGO needs to get into high elliptic orbit (298 x 95 856 km) with a period of 4 Martian days (slightly more than 4 earth days) and stay on it until the end of 2016.
